Reese Witherspoon had the company of her brother, John, for a trip to the pool with her son Deacon in Nashville yesterday. Deacon beat the Southern heat with a dip while he accompanied his mom in her native Tennessee for family time. Reese, Deacon, and her oldest child, Ava, caught a flight out of LAX on Saturday together, but they were without her husband, Jim Toth, or Reese's ex Ryan Phillippe ahead of Father's Day.

Ryan may not have been able to spend the holiday with his children since he was in Hawaii promoting his new project, Isolated, at the Maui Film Festival last week. He did have his kids on his mind, though, since Ryan spoke of steering them in a direction other than show business during an interview there. He said, "I don't mean to dismiss or demean our industry but I'd like to see them do something a little more meaningful or important [than enter show business]."

The family was joined by two other young tots as they made their way through the airport right before Father's Day. Notably absent were Jim Toth and Reese's son Tennessee, which suggests that Ava and Deacon may have been making a journey to meet up with their dad, Ryan Phillippe, who spent the weekend in Hawaii to attend the Maui Film Festival. While promoting his new project, Isolated, at the event, Ryan talked about how he and Reese aren't going to push their kids into show business and instead make sure that they finish their educations. Reese's homecoming follows the news that she will star in Don't Mess With Texas alongside Sofia Vergara. Reese will produce through her Pacific Standard production company, while Sofia will act as a coproducer. The movie is a female-centered buddy comedy that follows a police officer and her prisoner on the run, though production reportedly won't start until March 2014. In the meantime, Reese will get to work on Inherent Vice, joining Maya Rudolph and Joaquin Phoenix, who have already been in front of the cameras on set.
