Chanel Brings Its Iconic Quilted Fabric to Eyelid Art on the Runway

When it comes to Chanel, classic is always cool. Whether you're saving up for a pair of ballet flats, a tweed jacket, or the iconic quilted bags, the Paris fashion house's pieces are timeless. That's why it was a genius move for Chanel lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux to create a quilted print on the models' eyelids during Paris Fashion Week Fall 2016. From far away, the eye makeup appeared smoky and moody, but up close, you can see it's actually a mini-diamond pattern that was inspired by patchwork. The rest of the faces were pretty bare with a soft pink cheek and matching lip.

You can DIY this at home without needing any artistic skills. Simply grab a pair of fishnet stockings and stretch it taut over your eyelid. Then dust a black eyeshadow over the area, and the stocking will create a stencil. Clean up any fallen shadow outside of your eyelid, and mist it with a setting spray to make the look more long lasting. Try this technique come Halloween for fashion-forward mermaid eyes!
