Kate Middleton Just Surprised Us With Her Sensible Shoe Selection

Kate Middleton has had a busy Tuesday in Mumbai, India, starting her day alongside Prince William visiting with underprivileged children in the major Indian city. Their morning engagement gave Kate another chance to hit a style high note, as she selected a floor-length dress from the UK brand Glamorous — it was the company's Red Navy Border Print Lace-Up Maxi Dress ($71). Her earrings were an equally budget-savvy choice from the UK high street brand Accessorize, its Filligree Bead Short Drop Earrings ($16).

What really made Kate's look stand out, though, wasn't the dress — it was the shoes. We've seen Kate in a variety of heels during her trip, from her beloved L.K.Bennett beige pumps to her favorite Mint Velvet wedge espadrilles. But on Tuesday, Kate threw us for a shoe loop by selecting a pair of flats. Hers came from the British brand Russell & Bromley, its Xpresso Flat ($250).

It was Kate's first look of the day; she later changed into a jade Alice Temperley dress for a meeting with India's prime minister, Narendra Modi.
