While there's no doubt she's had her fair share of fairytale red carpet moments, Katie Holmes has always seemed surprisingly down-to-earth. The star — who turns 37 today — has no problem rocking tights with dresses when needed (practicality, people!) or riding the train in a red gown when necessary.

But it wasn't until we met up with her at #GladtoGive's One Warm Coat event, promoting an initiative to give back to those in need through donations over the holiday season, that we thought, "OK, yes! Katie Holmes could totally be our BFF." What truly convinced us? The answers to two simple questions: has she ever had a favorite coat and what is her suggestion for a cozy holiday outfit?

Katie Holmes' Favorite Coat

While Katie does agree that frigid NYC temps call for a "long puffy," her favorite coat is actually a throwback. "I used to have a Mickey Mouse coat in the eighth grade and I miss it," she told us when we asked. "It was great. It was white and had Mickey Mouse all over it. It was cool to have a Mickey Mouse coat at that time — maybe not so much anymore."

Her Idea of a Comfy Holiday Outfit

When asked if she had any tips for cozy holiday style, Katie's eyes immediately lit up. "A onesie!" she exclaimed. She revealed she's the owner of a Rangers onesie, but it's not exactly something she'd rock at a full, festive gathering. "It’s good for baking," she said. "For baking and close friends." Yes, we totally agree.
