Patti LaBelle's famous sweet potato pie has been known to cause spontaneous singing, so when we learned about Patti's new Sweet Potato Pecan Pie, we had seriously high hopes. Available for a limited time this holiday season at Walmart, the 10-inch pie ($10) has everything you'd find in Patti's original dessert, plus a generous layer of chopped pecans sprinkled on top. Is it worth adding to your shopping cart instead of making your own?

Unsurprisingly, yes. With no artificial flavors or added colors, the premium pie tastes just like Grandma made it — if not better (unless Patti is your grandma). Perhaps the most appealing part of the pie is the convenience: the only time you have to spend prepping the pie is heating it in the oven for 10-20 minutes until it's warmed through. Unlike other premade pies, this one is found in the fresh bakery section of the store rather than the frozen aisle. It's packed with fresh sweet potatoes, real butter, spices, and crunchy pecans, and the crust is just as buttery as the one we fell in love with in Patti's apple cobbler. If baking homemade pie isn't your specialty and you'd rather focus your efforts on the holiday appetizers — fondue cheese wreath, anyone? — this is a store-bought pie you can feel good about serving.
