15 Things Our Kids Are Obsessing Over Right Now

Kids have the ability to glom onto something and stay obsessed forever and ever — at least that's what it feels like. My house is still caught up with Frozen fever, although there are a few new things starting to edge out Elsa. We polled other moms about what their children are caught up with and are curious if any of these also reign at your house. We're guessing you're pretty familiar with a few of the following.

01
Frozen
Disney

Frozen

We're still crazy about Frozen, and it doesn't look like Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and crew are being let go anytime soon. Sure, us moms have enjoyed all the parodies and spinoffs, but with Halloween right around the corner, if you have a daughter, know there's a 90 percent chance she'll want a costume like one of the main characters from the movie.

02
Kids Place Live
Andrew and Polly

Kids Place Live

If you have satellite radio, a car, and a child, you're probably dialed in to either Kids Place Live or Radio Disney. Kids Place Live has won out in our car thanks to seriously catchy songs, like Andrew & Polly's "Grapes" (warning: if you listen to this song you'll be singing it forever). If we're in the car and it's on, we can drive for hours without any whining.

Lip Sync Battle
Spike TV

Lip Sync Battle

A favorite for all ages, Lip Sync Battle is a fun watch. And kids are obsessed with seeing their favorite stars battle it out, which no adult is complaining about because they love watching too.

Food in Fun Shapes

One mom shares that her child loves eating food that's in fun shapes, like dinosaur chicken nuggets. Turn breakfast into big smiles with creative edible art you can make alongside your child.

05
Harry Potter

Harry Potter

Harry Potter still tops the popularity charts with kids. Pretty much all the editors we polled about what their kids are obsessed with listed Harry Potter. We're more than happy to unlock the magic with our kids.

06
Transformers
The Cartoon Network

Transformers

You might have grown up with Transformers, and they've continued to stay popular with kids. And thanks to the Cartoon Network, your child can watch new shows for hours and hours.

Finger Painting

One of our editors confesses her son is crazy about finger painting and will turn just about anything into something to squish. She blames it on his preschool but enjoys all the colorful artwork that comes home. But she feels the finger painting is best left to the pros and admits to not having any in the house.

"Whip/Nae Nae"

One editor shares that her nephew is beyond obsessed with Silentó's "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" right now. Between constantly singing while whipping and nae nae-ing, it's hard not to get into it, too.

Dance Parties!

Dance Parties!

Another mommy editor shares that her little guy can be caught up in the middle of a complete tantrum and the mention of having a dance party turns everything around. So shake it, kids.

The Powerpuff Girls

The Powerpuff Girls

Another blast from the past, The Powerpuff Girls are back to infiltrate a new generation of kick-butt girls thanks to Netflix. My daughter is currently obsessed, and I'm OK with that.

Educational Tablets

We'll just call them "educational tablets," but I think we all know we're talking about our iPads that have been taken hostage by our kids. And there are so many apps and games they love from Toca Boca to Minecraft.

12
Glitter!

Glitter!

I have a 6-year-old, and it's all about glitter at our house. From using it on art projects to seriously hunting through clothes to only wear items that are bedazzled, glitter is what's hot in her fashion and art world. And on special days, we get out our own stash of glitter, resulting in lots of smiles.

Clothes!

It's pretty much split down the gender line on this one with girls loving pink, frills, and sundresses, while boys reach for sports gear and team shirts. Most parents we polled were OK with letting their little ones pick out their own outfits — to a degree. One mom admits to hiding certain favorite items in the dirty clothes hamper because she can't take looking at it anymore!

14
Pete the Cat
Harper Collins

Pete the Cat

Another book series that's popular, Pete the Cat has several kid-obsessed reads that capture the attention of a wide age range of children.

15
Lego
Scholastic

Lego

I gifted my nephew a Ninjago set years ago, and he's still going strong, and the same goes for Lego Friends, which also has a set of books that make for bedtime reading. But be warned. Once your child gets hooked, there's no going back. Really.
