Kale, Coconut, and All the Other Most Popular Dog Names of 2014

Rover.com, the nation's Airbnb for dogs, has released a survey that details the most popular dog names of 2014. Orange Is the New Black's Piper and other pop-culture-inspired names:

Nature-Related Names

These saw a 78 percent increase from last year. Examples include:

Since our technology never seems to leave our sight, it also makes sense that names like Siri, Tesla, Pixel, and Google made their way onto the list. Many people remain historically inspired, though, because additional dog names that made the list include Gatsby, Mozart, Napoleon, and Spartacus.

The survey also revealed that 94 percent of people considered their dogs family and 74 percent identified with the term "pet parent" rather than "dog owner" — it's no surprise that naming our dogs is a research-worthy task.
