Gross or Great? BroApp Autosends Sweet Texts to Your GF

Ready to outsource your relationship? BroApp ($2, for Android and iOS coming soon) is a bizarre new app that generates sweet text messages and automatically sends them to a significant other at a specified time. There's even a Girlfriend WiFi Detector that prevents the app from sending any messages while you're at your girlfriend's place.

It's disgustingly deceptive . . . but also undeniably intriguing. On the one hand, it's very impressive how, um, real these canned responses are. "Hey babe, how was your day?," "Miss you :)," and "See you tonight" are just some examples. On the other hand, it reinforces that, when it comes to digital interactions, nothing is real.

Check out this tag line: "Automatically message your girlfriend sweet things so you can spend more time with the Bros." How much does that make your blood boil?

A BroApp bro selects his girlfriend's number from his contacts, chooses from a list of editable messages, then specifies which days and times he'd like BroApp to autoselect an SMS. Nifty built-in features like a Recent Contact Detector make sure that random texts aren't sent if bros have recently texted or called their girlfriends. This app could probably turn any Joe Schmo into an awesome, attentive boyfriend. But, let us remind ourselves, that it would not be real.
