Your Favorite Childhood Toy Just Got a Futuristic Upgrade

As if it were even possible, the View-Master from your childhood is back and better than ever. Thanks to a Google-Mattel partnership, it's now a VR headset (!!!). This time around, you'll need to use a Mattel app to see images with a 3D-like effect, and you can buy different reels for experiences, like visiting landmarks or planets in 360-degree "photospheres." Here's an example in San Francisco.

"Combining technology and innovation with this classic toy gives kids an enhanced experience allowing for play opportunities not yet imagined through new, digitally curated content," wrote Mattel in a press release.

It should be ready to ship in the Fall and will cost you $30; additional reels will come in packs of four for $15.
