Miss Puerto Rico Stephanie del Valle Takes the 2016 Miss World Crown

Miss Puerto Rico, 19-year-old Stephanie del Valle, is the new Miss World! The Pace University law and communications student from San Juan was crowned in a ceremony at the MGM National Harbor in MD, taking the top spot ahead of first runner-up Miss Dominican Republic, Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez, and second runner-up Miss Indonesia, Natasha Mannuela.

Stephanie's win marks the island's second Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced won the title in 1975. More importantly, it adds to tennis player Monica Puig's win at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics where she secured the country's first gold medal, making 2016 a memorable year for Puerto Rico.
