As if it weren't already clear from the hair and makeup at their Spring 2015 show, The Blonds are not your average fashion designers. Couple and design team Phillipe and David Blond take their design inspiration from Madonna to Tweety Bird and everything in between. Their most recent collection's theme was "gangsta genie." To translate that look into some seriously fierce fingers, they paired up with the nail art experts at CND.
According to Education Manager Roxanne Valinoti, it took over 500 hours to create these claws, which included chains, lettering, flowers, melting candles, and other 3D elements. Nails incorporated themes of travel, religious symbolism, Indian jewelry, and chola references to stay in line with the collection's inspiration. The shape was squared off for a modern West Coast feel. If you're curious about what happens once the show is over, CND takes the nails and archives them, sometimes transforming them into museum-worthy pieces. That's pretty serious nail art!
