Why This Bachelorette Posted a Makeup-Free Selfie: "Scroll Less, Love More"

The Bachelorette is a show centered on finding love. This year, one series alum is encouraging others to embrace self-love via a no-makeup portrait — and her empowering post is going viral.

Kaitlyn Bristowe, who appeared on the show's 2015 cycle, took to Instagram to show off a barefaced picture. She began her caption by writing, "This is gonna mess up my [aesthetically] pleasing feed, and I don't really care." The former Spin instructor turned Broadway actress just wrapped up starring in the musical Home for the Holidays in NYC, so she's used to "getting dolled up with full hair and makeup."

But Bristowe wrote that it was important to show how she "normally looks." As she wrote, "It's been a whirlwind and I have just been 'on' for a while now . . . Just wanted to remind you today while scrolling that you're beautiful, Instagram is a highlight reel, and we all have things to work on. But work on the inside this year, scroll less, love more, and the outside will fall into place."

She finished with a New Year's resolution: "Let's make 2018 the year of #Realstagram and mix one in every once and a while!" We are so here for Bristowe's refreshing take on makeup, especially considering she comes from a show that heavily relies on a glam squad. Her decision to cake on concealer or go au naturel is a totally personal one, and we look forward to more #Realstagrams in the year to come!
