You Don't Have to Zoom In on Sophia Bush's Makeup to See Why It's Special

On a red carpet filled with bold beauty looks, Sophia Bush used the 2017 SAG Awards as her opportunity to experiment with a sick new trend: pink eye. And we're not talking about some sort of icky infection — we're talking about a vivid magenta eye shadow look that is worth pinning to your beauty inspiration board ASAP. While this wasn't the first time we saw the pink eye trend during this award season, it's certainly one of the most memorable.

Makeup artist Patrick Ta was more than happy to experiment after seeing Bush's outfit choice. "When Sophia showed me her dress, I instantly knew what I wanted to do," said Ta of the look. "I didn't want the typical match-the-lip-to-the-gown thing, so I chose to play up the eyes. It had to be strong, modern, and just beautiful, so I went for pink and purple eye shadow!" Ta didn't stick to just shadows, though; the artist also used lipstick and blush to perfect Bush's vibrant pink eye look.

For her top lids, Ta used a combination of several Chanel Powder Blush ($45) hues and Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in La Sensuelle ($37), then lined Bush's bottom lids with Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Cassis ($33). Ta also added Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Cambon ($61) and Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara ($32) to complete the look.

Bush perfectly matched her eye makeup to a stunningly vibrant gown and kept the rest of her makeup subtle. For her hair, she wore it in a loose, wavy ponytail with strands falling effortlessly around her face.

We're absolutely tickled pink by the whole look — keep reading to see more!
