Finding the perfect nude lipstick has always been a struggle for me, especially as someone with tan skin with a neutral undertone. Whether I'm looking for that perfect brown lip, a romantic rosy nude, or the shade that delivers the "my lips but better" look, finding a lip shade that complements my complexion has been a challenging feat. That is, until Kulfi Beauty released its line of Heirloom Satin Lipsticks ($30) in a range of nude and neutral hues that flatter a wide range of skin tones and undertones.

Kulfi Beauty has been one of my favorite makeup brands since its inception, from the bestselling Underlined Kajal Eyeliner and the pigmented Mehndi Moment Cream Blush to the editor-backed Main Match Concealer. So many of the brand's products work for my complexion, so I was really keen on seeing whether I would be able to find my perfect match in this range of neutral-toned lipsticks.

Keep reading to see my full review of the Kulfi Beauty Heirloom Satin Lipstick and find out which shades are my new go-to nudes.

Out of the line's seven shades, four of them are suitable matches for me: Ma's Misra, First Sari, Rose Wood, and Polki Dots. Ma's Misra, a true brown neutral shade, is my ideal nude lipstick color. First Sari is a flattering berry that delivers a natural-looking pink tone to my lips. Both Ma's Misra and First Sari are shades that suit my complexion on their own, without any lip liner. On the other hand, the shades Rose Wood and Polki Dots work for me if I wear a brown lip liner, which helps to transition the tones of my complexion to the lip color, and it also adds dimension to the look. Rose Wood is a rosy-brown neutral that reminds me of Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk shade, and Polki Dots is a coral-peach tone that looks more orange and warm on me. Between all four shades, I feel like I have a solid range of varying neutrals and nudes to choose from, whether it's a true brown, a few pinks, or a peachy shade.

Beyond the range of colors, the lipstick's texture is soft and elegant, especially if you're typically dry like I am. The Heirloom Satin Lipstick has a silky texture that glides on smoothly. It feels practically weightless and is so hydrating, like a glossy balm without the high-shine effect. Instead, it has a slight sheen that gives your lips a healthy plumpness that's natural looking. The formula is pretty pigmented as well — I only need a few swipes to get great payoff, but it's also buildable, so you can go as bold as you want.

How to Use the Kulfi Beauty Heirloom Satin Lipstick

You can use the Heirloom Satin Lipstick just like any other lipstick. The brand suggests using the pointy tip of the bullet to outline your lips and using the flat side to fill in the rest. The formula is buildable, so you can layer it on or dab it in for a more natural flush of color.

Since my lips are dry, I like to prep them with a hydrating lip balm or the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare DermInfusions Plump + Repair Lip Treatment, then layer on the lipstick. I found the lipstick stays on longer when I prime my lips with a lip liner beforehand. This lip product is moisturizing enough that I don't need to top it off with a balm or a gloss; I can just do a touch-up with the lipstick itself.

To find the shades that will complement your skin tone, I highly suggest looking at the swatches above. You can also take the brand's quiz to find your shade on the website. If you have a dark skin tone like I do, the shades Ghazal Glow, Khadi Kiss, and Bangle Box may not be as flattering.

It's also important to note that this lipstick isn't super long-lasting. I've had to reapply it throughout the day, especially when I am eating or drinking.
