The hack: To get a soft smoky eye, forgo liquid (or any liner!) in favor of a wet eye shadow at the lash.
The pro tip: "You don’t want to see a gap between the lashes and the line," said Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee, who created this gorgeous look on Keira. "To cheat and make it look professional, you want to make sure it goes to the lashes. To use liquid liner would look harder and more intense. Doing this smoky eye without a line is what makes it soft and beautiful."
DIY it now: Dip a wet brush in your eye shadow (Lee used Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Prélude and Tissé Mademoiselle ($61 each) in the color and blend it inwards right to the lashes. "Take the color in between the lashes so you don’t have any gaps," said Lee. Follow by blending it all together with a dry, clean brush. "This makes them look thicker," she added.
Bonus: Start with your eyes and then do your foundation, advised Lee. That way, you can clean up any messes you make to get clean, glowing skin like Keira's!
