“Think Flashdance curls!” said Spoke & Weal owner and stylist Jon Reyman. “Curls are hot. The hair is heavier at the perimeter, leaving more of a pyramid shape. This simple geometry is very cool right now. Jenny Slate wore it perfectly on the recent episode of Girls.”
What to ask for at the salon: Advise your stylist to “leave the density a little heavier at the perimeter (limit the texturizing),” Reyman explained. “This adds more volume to ends for a pyramid shape that’s looking very cool right now.”
At-home styling tip: If you have natural waves, let it dry naturally. If not, add in a product with some hold and use a diffuser to dry it. “If you are looking to strengthen the shape for a more formal or evening look, diffuse it with a gel or liquid pomade,” Reyman added. “For a more casual look, air-dry with a mix of oil and hold product. Own it.”
