Stacked Skincare, which specializes in at-home peels, has come out with the Hydrating Lip Peel ($26). It's a bit of a head-scratcher, mostly because most people don't associate peels with hydrating the skin. But it works two-fold: first, glycolic acid sloughs off dead skin on the lips and works over time to help smooth out lines. Then, ingredients like lactic acid and apple fruit extract hydrate, plump, and nourish the lips.
If your lips are chronically chapped, peeling, or have dead skin on them, you can use this without it stinging or burning. That's the other thing: it is a peel but it doesn't hurt, and you don't notice sheets of skin hanging off your lips, either. After you apply, let it sit for a few minutes and then feel free to apply lipstick, gloss, whatever. There is a tartness when you lick your lips, but it's more like a sour apple flavor than a medicinal taste.
