An AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) is a chemical exfoliant that dissolves dead skin cells, giving you a smoother, softer complexion. "Alpha hydroxy acids are a group of exfoliating acids," cosmetic chemist Stephen Ko explained. "They work by speeding up the sloughing off of dead skin cells and can also increase moisture in the skin over time."
