Kim Kardashian Just Wrote 1,000 Words on Her Battle With Psoriasis, Sharing Never-Before-Seen Photos

Do a quick search on Google for "psoriasis" and, it won't surprise you to learn that Kim Kardashian is at the top of the list. Kardashian has been open in sharing her own struggles with the skin condition, and thanks to her huge online following, it's definitely increased awareness. This is exactly why she opened up about her battle with psoriasis in a 1,000-word piece on sister Kourtney Kardashian's lifestyle website Poosh. She detailed when she was first diagnosed, how the condition continues to affect her life, and the various treatments she's tried. She often shares her experiences on Instagram, too.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that causes itchy, sore, red, and sometimes flaking skin, which can cover large areas of the body and be extremely uncomfortable for the sufferer. It's different for each person, and Kardashian suffers with flare-ups, predominantly on her legs, often triggered by something as simple as a common cold.

Her skin condition was the driving force behind the addition of body makeup to her multimillion-dollar cosmetics line, KKW Beauty. Her body foundation first received backlash for perpetuating unrealistic beauty ideals; however, many consumers shared their gratitude to Kardashian for providing a solution to covering scars and various other skin conditions.

"No matter where [psoriasis] is on my body, sometimes I am fine with showing it off and other times I don't want it to be a distraction, so I cover it up with body makeup," Kardashian said. Although she's still discovering what works best for her and her psoriasis, she noted a plant-based diet as having helped her, as well as her body makeup. Ahead, get a closer look at some of the photos Kardashian shared on Poosh.
