While filming the 2014 film "Clouds of Sils Maria," Stewart got transfer tattoos for her character, Valentine, but after two months, she decided to make them permanent. The art piece in question is a black rectangle with an eye in the center and a light bulb as the iris. When talking with IndieWire, Stewart explained the meaning behind the tattoo on her right forearm: "This is part of 'Guernica.' It's a Picasso painting that I saw when I was 18 and in Madrid. It f*cking floored me, and it's the first time I responded to a piece of art like that. It is just perfect for me. I love what it makes me think of. It's like 'keep going, and keep the f*cking light on.'"
