Constance Wu Slams the Academy For Nominating Casey Affleck

The 2017 Oscar nominations were revealed on Tuesday, and as anticipated, Casey Affleck is up for best actor for his role in Manchester by the Sea. While his performance in the film has put him in the spotlight, it has also shone a light on the multiple allegations of sexual harassment against him from 2010. Though both cases were eventually settled out of court, some people are not happy with how he is being celebrated so far this award season. Shortly after the nominations were released, Fresh Off the Boat actress Constance Wu took to social media to call out the actor and the Academy. "Men who sexually harass women 4 OSCAR!" she wrote. "Bc good acting performance matters more than humanity, human integrity!Bc poor kid rly needs the help!" She also shared a longer piece from her conversation with actor Peter Shinkoda in which she compared his "nod" to President Donald Trump's election victory. See all of her tweets in full below.

I've been counseled not to talk about this for career's sake. F my career then, I'm a woman & human first. That's what my craft is built on.
