Kensington Palace initially reported that Kate was due to give birth some time in April, though the baby didn't arrive until May 2. The baby girl was born at 8:34 a.m. London time at St. Mary's hospital and weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces.

What Does This Mean For Harry?

Will and Kate's second child is fourth in line for the throne, bumping Prince Harry down to the fifth-in-line position. However, don't take this as bad news for Harry — the fun-loving royal has been open about the fact that he isn't interested in becoming king and is comfortable taking a backseat in the public eye to his brother's family. You have to admit — it would probably be more fun to be Harry than William anyway! Hopefully Will and Kate's baby girl will grow up to be as fun as the other "spare."

Was Kate Sick Again?

The Palace confirmed that Kate was once again suffering from acute morning sickness, or hyperemesis gravidarum. As with her previous pregnancy, it was believed that Kate's illness was what pushed the Palace to make a pregnancy announcement ahead of the usual four-month wait. Since Kate was slated to appear at an event with William on the same day as the announcement, her absence would have raised a few eyebrows.

Fortunately, this time around Kate was able to recover from her illness privately in Kensington Palace. Back in 2012 she was rushed to King Edward VII hospital to get treatment when the announcement was made.

What About Kate's Schedule?

Due to her illness, Kate was forced to pull out of several key appearances in September, including the Opening Ceremonies for Prince Harry's Invictus Games and what would have been her first-ever solo overseas trip to Malta. However, since she started feeling better she made multiple appearances including at a celebration for St. Patrick's Day and a visit to the Brookhill Children's Centre in March.
