Billie Eilish Says She "Literally Couldn't Be More Single Right Now"

Billie Eilish shot to global fame at the early age of 15 with her breakout song "Ocean Eyes," and she's been on an upward trajectory ever since. Whether it's opening up about her mental health struggles, squashing stigmas surrounding body inclusivity, or condemning the Supreme Court's overturning Roe v. Wade, the 21-year-old "Happier Than Ever" artist has never shied away from speaking her mind. However, when it comes to specifics about her love life, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter keeps that information close to the chest.

In a September 2020 talk with "Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp," the "Bellyache" singer spoke out about wanting to keep attention off of her personal affairs. "I definitely want to keep [relationships] private. I've had relationships and kept them private, and even the ones that I've had, with the tiny amount that I've let the world see, I regret," she shared during a virtual appearance on the radio show, adding, "I think about the people that have made their relationships public, and then they break up, and it's like, 'What if it goes bad?'"

On Oct. 19, Eilish clarified her relationship status amid rumors that she was dating tattoo artist David Enth, writing on her Instagram Stories, "I'm so dead literally couldn't be more single right now." She added: "LMFAO what the hell is all this?"

The "Bad Guy" singer made an exception to her privacy rule during her last relationship, but more on that later. She's, at times, also opened up about her life-changing experiences with love. Ahead, find a brief rundown of Eilish's dating history.

Brandon Quention Adams (2018-June 2019)

In her revelatory 2021 documentary, "The World's a Little Blurry," the Oscar-winning star gave fans a peek into her tumultuous relationship with fellow musician Brandon Quention Adams, known by his stage name 7:AMP. While Eilish and the rapper, whom she refers to as "Q" throughout the documentary, had been friends for some time, it was only through the documentary that fans learned the two had been romantically involved at one point.

Along with documenting the superstar's rise to stardom, the Apple+ series charted the highs and lows of Eilish and Adams's relationship, all the way through its dissolution. Based on Adams's appearance in the series, it's speculated the two dated in late 2018, when Eilish was 16 and the rapper was 22. Eilish even appeared on the cover art of Adams's album "Bleaupro," which was released in February 2019.

The two are seen exchanging "I love yous" at the beginning of the documentary. Adams was even there during Eilish's 17th birthday celebrations. Toward the end of the documentary, however, the cracks in their relationship were revealed, as the "My Future" singer shared some insight into why it fell apart while backstage at her June 2019 concert in NYC.

"I just wasn't happy. I didn't want the same things he wanted, and I don't think that's fair for him," she explained. "I don't think you should be in a relationship super excited about things that the other person couldn't care less about. I don't think that's fair to you. I don't think that's fair to him. There was just a lack of effort. I was literally like, 'Dude, you don't have enough love to love yourself, so you can't love me, dude. And you don't. You think you do.'"

"I do love him, though, which made it harder. I'm not over him; I didn't find someone else," she added. "I didn't stop having love for him. I just spent time away from him for a little bit, and I was like, 'Wow! I'm missing so much because I'm worried about you all the time, and I don't want what you want, and you don't want what I want.' I don't want to fix him. I can't fix him. I tried."

Right after her confession, Eilish took the stage for an emotional performance of her ballad "I Love You," which fans speculate could be about Adams.

Adams seemingly responded to criticism from fans about his treatment of Elish in March 2021. "People fail to realize I've been dealing with my brother's death. Especially around that time when it was fresh," the artist wrote in a series of Instagram Story posts (via MailOnline). "Sometimes you have to be alone to cope. Sometimes people disagree and don't want the same things as one another. It's on you to understand there's several points of view to a situation. Anyone who knows me knows where my heart is. I stay with a smile on my face even when I'm hurting. We push through the pain. [No love is ever lost.] But I refuse to be bashed. There's always two sides to a situation."

Eilish seemingly responded to his post, thanking her fans for protecting her but asking them to "be nice."

Matthew Tyler Vorce (April 2021-May 2022)

Eilish and Matthew Tyler Vorce, an actor who has appeared in titles such as "Mother," "Little Monster," and "May I Sleep With Danger?," first sparked dating rumors when the two stepped out to grab coffee with the singer's dog Shark in Santa Barbara, CA, in April 2021. They appeared to start dating at that time, when Vorce was 29 and Eilish was 19.

Though neither ever confirmed the relationship explicitly, Vorce seemingly confirmed they were no longer dating while addressing infidelity rumors in May 2021. "Nobody cheated on anyone. Relationships end. Simple as that. Creating rumors and LYING on the internet is dangerous," he wrote in an Instagram Story, dispelling the rumors.

Jesse Rutherford (November 2022-May 2023)

Though Eilish has always maintained privacy in her relationships throughout her years as a public figure, the singer seemingly changed her mind when she started dating The Neighbourhood's Jesse Rutherford. In photos published by Entertainment Tonight on Oct. 19, 2022, the musicians were shown kissing following a date night in Los Angeles.

On Nov. 1, 2022, Eilish made her relationship with Rutherford Instagram official after posting a photo series from Halloween, which included snaps of the two together dressed in their costumes. "life is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy🤡 happy halloween🎃🥰," she captioned the post.

The couple later made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art and Film Gala that month, and they would walk the Vanity Fair Oscars Party red carpet the following March, but their relationship was ultimately short-lived.

On May 17, a rep for Eilish told People, "We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends. All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single."

Eilish addressed the breakup months later on Instagram. During a Q&A on Aug. 13, a fan asked the "What Was I Made For?" singer the simple question, "Jesse?" Eilish responded, saying, "[We are] very, very good friends only. My homie forever." She went on to confirm she is still single following their split.
