The 2023 Cannes Film Festival kicked off on Tuesday, May 16, and brought together some of the biggest and brightest stars in the world. Ahead of the screening of Johnny Depp's "Jeanne du Barry," which opened the festival, photographers captured glamorous looks from Elle Fanning, Candice Swanepoel, Naomi Campbell, and more on the red carpet. Helen Mirren debuted her new blue hair, and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones made it a family affair. Plus, Oscar winner Brie Larson made a splash as part of the festival's jury.
On May 17, Viola Davis, Iris Law, Laura Harrier, and Ethan Hawke all hit the red carpet before screenings of "Monster" and "Strange Way of Life." A day later, Adriana Lima and boyfriend Andre Lemmers were photographed kissing on the Cannes carpet, while Harrison Ford and wife Calista Flockhart stepped out for their first big appearance together in nearly five years. The next day, Dua Lipa and French director Romain Gavras also made waves at Cannes for their big couple debut.
Meanwhile, May 20 brought the premiere of Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon," and a bevy of stars showed up to see the film. Among those who walked the red carpet were the movie's stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, as well as Will Ferrell, Naomi Campbell, and couple Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons.
On May 22, Lily-Rose Depp, Jennie Kim, The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye), and the cast of "The Idol" stepped out for the festival, where HBO's buzzy (and controversial) series debuted its first episodes out of competition before an official June premiere. Then, the following day, Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City" premiere brought out its stars Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, Rupert Friend, and Maya Hawke, as well as Julia Garner, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, and married pair Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost.
Meanwhile, the 2023 amfAR Gala held at Cannes on May 25, which raises money for the fight against HIV/AIDS, had attendees like Halsey and Teyana Taylor, plus, Queen Latifah and her partner, Eboni Nichols, as well as Rebel Wilson and her fiancée, Ramona Agruma. Other celebrities who also attended this year's film festival include Lori Harvey, Orlando Bloom, and Jane Fonda.
Major films that screened during Cannes included "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," Todd Haynes's "May December," and Disney and Pixar's newest film, "Elemental," which closed out the festivities on May 27.
All that's to say the 2023 Cannes Festival was a very buzzy — and very star-studded — affair. Scroll ahead to see the best celeb sightings.
