Michael Jordan "Gives Thanks" by Donating $2 Million to Food Banks Ahead of Thanksgiving

Ahead of the holidays, Michael Jordan is taking the time to help those in need by making a $2 million donation to Feeding America and food banks around the country. "In these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to COVID-19, it's more important than ever to pause and give thanks," Michael said in a statement. "I am proud to be donating additional proceeds from The Last Dance to Feeding America and its member food banks in the Carolinas and Chicago to help feed America's hungry."

The additional proceeds from Michael's The Last Dance docuseries will be used to distribute meals to families in need and provide food security for millions of people. "An incredible gift to be thankful for — NBA legend Michael Jordan is donating $2 million to help our neighbors facing hunger!" Feeding America captioned a Twitter post sharing the news.

Since COVID-19 first took its toll on the country, Feeding America estimates that the amount of people seeking help from food banks has increased by 60 percent, leaving around 50 million people uncertain about their next meal. If you can, consider giving a donation ahead of the holidays, and see the organization's full announcement here.
