The Harry Potter author has lived in Scotland for more than 20 years, and she provided the largest donation to the Better Together campaign, contributing $1.68 million to the cause. She wrote a lengthy blog post on her official website to explain why she'd like Scotland to remain part of the UK, joking, "If you're only vaguely interested, or pressed for time, there's a mention of Death Eaters in paragraph 5." As to her reasoning, she said, "My hesitance at embracing independence has nothing to do with lack of belief in Scotland's remarkable people or its achievements. The simple truth is that Scotland is subject to the same 21st-century pressures as the rest of the world."
