Justin famously burst into tears at the end of his VMAs performance in September, and during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he revealed his tears were due to the level of support he received from the audience. He explained, "It was so overwhelming for me, everything . . . I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed at that." He also reflected on his past, stating, "I just had a bunch of knuckleheads around me. I went through a place of trying to figure it out. You have to test the waters . . . I just happened to be in the spotlight and in front of cameras all the time, and they caught all those moments."
