19 Celebrity Mistresses Who Became the Main Squeeze

Love is funny, you know? Sometimes you meet "the one" when you're both single and ready to mingle, and other times . . . not so much. We all know the story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie falling in love on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith while he was technically still married to Jennifer Aniston, and LeAnn Rimes's relationship with Eddie Cibrian involved infidelity on both sides. In addition to those couples, there are a handful of other stars who happened to meet their current loves while they happened to be taken — and it's a habit that goes back decades.

Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton first worked together in 2005 when they performed "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" during CMT's 100 Greatest Duets concert; it was clearly a catalyst for both of them, as they opened up about their "inevitable chemistry" in an episode of Behind the Music. The only issue? Blake was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Williams, at the time.

In an interview, he revealed, "I was a married guy, you know? Standing up there and singing with somebody and going, 'Man, this shouldn't be happening.' Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her, right there on stage." Miranda echoed the sentiments, adding, "It was just like this draw to each other. It was just sort of this inevitable chemistry." Blake and Kaynette split the following year, and he and Miranda tied the knot in 2011. They went on to become one of country music's golden couples, but sadly announced their divorce in July 2015.

LeAnn Rimes

One relationship born from infidelity on both sides is LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's. The couple starred together in the Lifetime movie The Northern Lights in 2009 and carried on an affair while filming; LeAnn was married to backup dancer Dean Sheremet while Eddie was married to Brandi Glanville, and their PDA-filled romps were made public by the press.

Despite their scandalous start, Eddie and LeAnn divorced their respective partners and got married in 2011. They share Eddie's two sons from his relationship with Brandi, but the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has been more than candid about her disdain for their union. Of the way their romance started, LeAnn has said, "I take responsibility for everything I've done. I hate that people got hurt, but I don't regret the outcome."

Angelina Jolie

For five years, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were Hollywood's golden couple, but they ended their union in 2005 amidst cheating allegations involving the actor's Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar, Angelina Jolie. While the couple insisted that there was no affair, they did admit to "falling in love" on the set. In a Today show interview that year, Angelina told Ann Curry, "To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive. I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that. I wouldn't be attracted to a man who would cheat on his wife."

Brad and Angelina dated for eight years before tying the knot in a top secret ceremony in August 2014, surrounded by their six children. They played an onscreen couple for the second time in 2015's By the Sea, but announced their plans to divorce in September 2016.

When Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady began dating in 2006, Tom was still in a relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan. The end of Tom's relationship with Bridget and the beginning of his romance with Gisele overlapped just a teensy bit, as both events happened in December of that year. In February 2007, Bridget announced that she was three months pregnant with Tom's child, and gave birth to their son, Jack Moynahan, in August 2007.

Tom and Gisele tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2009, and over the years, the couple has been candid about the timing of their relationship. "That's not how you envisioned your life, that's not how you envisioned having children, but it happens," Tom said in an interview with Details magazine in 2009. "But you're not talking about a tragic event. You're talking about a life." Gisele and Tom now have two kids together, son Benjamin and daughter Vivian, and not only does Gisele relish being a stepmom, but she and Bridget also seem to have an amicable connection. "I want him to have a great relationship with his mom, because that's important, but I love him the same way as if he were mine," Gisele has said of 8-year-old Jack.

Jennifer and Marc Anthony got married in June 2004, just five months after Marc's then-wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, filed for divorce. While it isn't clear that Jennifer had anything to do with the downfall of their union, the timeline pretty much confirms that she and Marc were dating while he was still married.

Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith were married to other people — Ana Leza and Don Johnson, respectively — when they met and fell in love on the set of Two Much in 1995. They tied the knot in May 1996 (just a month after both divorces were finalized), and welcomed their daughter, Stella, in September of that year. Melanie and Antonio went on to become one of Hollywood's longest-running couples, but called it quits in 2014, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Alicia Keys and rapper/producer Swizz Beatz began dating in 2008, while he was still married to singer Mashonda — who had just given birth to their son, Kasseem Dean Jr. Both Swizz and Alicia have maintained that his relationship was already ending when they struck up a romance, but his ex has a different story. Alas, Alicia and Swizz tied the knot in 2010 and have two sons together, Egypt and Genesis.

Elizabeth Taylor

In what could be considered the original Hollywood love triangle, singer Eddie Fisher married Elizabeth Taylor in 1959 after leaving his wife, Debbie Reynolds, for her. At the time, the couple also had two young children together (including the late Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher). What made the situation even worse is that Debbie and Liz were also best friends. "We had a lapse of time when she took Eddie to live with her because she liked him, too," Debbie said of Liz, adding, "She liked him well enough to take him without an invitation." In a weird twist of fate, Liz ditched Eddie for her Cleopatra costar and longtime love Richard Burton in 1964.

Debbie and Liz went on to reconcile their friendship sometime in the late '60s and kept in touch until Liz's death in 2011. Debbie, who passed away in December 2016, even likened the scandal to another modern romance, saying, "I was just like Jennifer Aniston with Brad Pitt when he fell in love with Angelina Jolie."

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder have been married for nearly 14 years, but their relationship reportedly started under shady circumstances. The couple met on the set of The Mexican in 2000 — Julia starred in the film with Brad Pitt, and Danny was a cameraman. They struck up a romance, even though Julia was dating actor Benjamin Bratt and Danny was married to makeup artist Vera Steimberg. Danny filed for divorce from Vera six months later, after she allegedly "found out he was calling Julia every day."

Shortly after the split, Julia was famously photographed out in LA wearing a homemade t-shirt that read "A Low Vera," a play on words that was seemingly alluding to Vera's unwillingness to grant Danny a divorce so he and Julia could get married. Nevertheless, the two wed in 2002 and have three kids together: twins Finn and Hazel and son Henry.

There's nothing that new about a nanny scandal, but most celebrities who have hooked up with the help didn't exactly go on to marry them. Such was the case for Ethan Hawke, who was allegedly cheating on then-wife Uma Thurman with their children's babysitter, Ryan Shawhughes. Ethan and Uma separated in 2003 amid rumors of his infidelity, and Ryan and Ethan tied the knot in 2008. They have two daughters together.

Lauren Bacall

One of Old Hollywood's most iconic couples is Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. They first met while filming To Have and Have Not in 1944 — when she was 19 and he was 44 — and began an affair; at the time, he was married to actress Mayo Methot, and Humphrey and Lauren's dalliances included on-set hookups and passionate love letters. The two starred together in four films and eventually made their relationship public after Humphrey filed for divorce and married Lauren in a small Ohio ceremony in 1945.

Despite the scandalous origins of their romance, "Bogie and Bacall" became the pinnacle of A-list love. They welcomed their first child, son Steven, in 1949, followed by a daughter, Leslie, three years later. They remained married until Bogie's death in 1957. Lauren went on to date Frank Sinatra, and was married to actor Jason Robards from 1961 to 1969, divorcing him due to his alcoholism. In a 1996 interview, Lauren referred to her relationship with Humphrey Bogart as her "one great marriage." She passed away in August 2014.

When Britney Spears fell for her backup dancer, Kevin Federline, in 2004, he was technically engaged to actress Shar Jackson — and they were also expecting their second child together. Regardless, Kevin and Britney got engaged after three months of dating and tied the knot in September of that year. They went on to have two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, but Britney filed for divorce in November 2006, citing irreconcilable differences.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

One word: Tampongate. Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles first met in the 1970s and briefly dated. They split up and each married and had kids with other people — Charles to Princess Diana, and Camilla to Andrew Parker Bowles. Throughout their respective marriages, the two were rumored to still be carrying on a romantic relationship (Charles admitted in a biography that they rekindled their love affair after his marriage to Diana had "irretrievably broken down" in 1986). In 1992, a flirty (albeit embarrassing) conversation between Camilla and Charles was recorded and made public, and included a statement from the prince insisting that he wished that he could be her tampon. Yeah.

Charles and Diana split that year, and Camilla and Andrew divorced in 1995. Diana died in a tragic car accident in August 1997, and Charles and Camilla didn't make their first public appearance as a couple until 1999, attending a birthday party at the Ritz Hotel in London. They tied the knot in 2005, but Queen Elizabeth II was not there (as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Charles's mother may have been uncomfortable attending the wedding of a divorceé). Camilla thus became the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the royal stepmother to Princes William and Harry and the fun-loving mother-in-law to Kate Middleton.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were both married to other people when they met on the set of Mind Over Murder in 2005 — Tori to playwright Charlie Shanian and Dean to Mary Jo Eustace. The unions ended in 2006 due to their infidelity, and they got married just a month after Tori's divorce was finalized in May 2007.

Together they have four kids, as well as Dean's son Jack from his first marriage. While they're still together, their marriage hasn't been without its controversies, from cancelled reality TV shows to Dean's adultery and 2014 rehab stay.

Amber Heard

Though it's never been confirmed or denied by the pair, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were rumored to have hooked up while filming The Rum Diary together in 2011 — and while he was still with his partner of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis. He and Vanessa announced their split in 2012, and Johnny and Amber tied the knot on his private island in the Bahamas in front of two dozen guests, including Johnny and Vanessa's children, Lily-Rose and Jack. Johnny and Amber didn't last, though: their contentious divorce was finalized in January 2017.

Soon-Yi Previn

It's a tale as old as time: boy meets girl, boy marries girl, boy falls for girl's adopted daughter. OK, it's not that common, but that's exactly what happened between legendary director Woody Allen and his then-partner, Mia Farrow. The two were together for 10 years, though they never married. Their relationship ended in 1992 after Mia found nude photos of her 21-year-old adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, in Woody's NYC apartment. It was a huge Hollywood scandal, especially considering their 35-year age difference and the fact that Woody was technically a parental figure to her.

Soon-Yi, who was adopted at the age of 5 by Mia and her former husband, composer André Previn, went on to marry Woody in 1997; they've been together ever since, and went on to adopt two children of their own.

Patti Scialfa

Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa have been making beautiful music together since the '80s, but their love story wasn't without a tiny bit of indecency. Bruce asked Patti to join the E Street Band in 1984; they reportedly had romantic feelings for each other, but Bruce ended up marrying actress Julianne Phillips in 1985.

Patti joined the band's Tunnel of Love Express Tour three years later. Unsurprisingly, she and Bruce rekindled their romance, albeit secretly, while traveling the world together. Bruce's marriage to Julianne was reportedly strained at the time due to his being away from home so much, and they secretly separated in 1985. Bruce and Patti moved in together shortly after. The Boss faced a lot of backlash for how quickly it seemed he had made his relationship with Patti official. In an interview with The Advocate, he said, "It's a strange society that assumes it has the right to tell people whom they should love and whom they shouldn't. But the truth is, I basically ignored the entire thing as much as I could. I said, 'Well, all I know is, this feels real, and maybe I have got a mess going here in some fashion, but that's life.'"

Bruce and Patti welcomed their first son, Evan, in 1990, tied the knot at their LA home in 1991, and had two more children, daughter Jessica and son Samuel. They've been going strong ever since, and yes — Patti's still with the band.

Brittany Kerr

Country singer Jason Aldean was caught in quite the pickle in 2012 when he was photographed making out with Brittany Kerr, a former American Idol contestant, in an LA bar. The PDA would have been totally cool if it weren't for the fact that Jason was married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery, whom he has two kids with. He spoke out about the incident via Facebook shortly after, insisting that he "left alone" that night and saying, "I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar."

Seven months later, Jason filed for divorce from Jessica, and officially began dating Brittany. They made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2014 CMT Awards, and announced their engagement in September of that year. In March 2015, they made it official in a Mexico beach ceremony, where Jason's two daughters acted as bridesmaids.

Kelsey Grammer married his mistress, Kayte Walsh, in 2011 — just two weeks after his divorce from wife Camille Grammer was finalized. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and former Frasier actor were embroiled in a public, drama-filled feud the year before when she discovered that Kelsey had been carrying on an affair with the British flight attendant, who was 25 years his junior.

Kelsey and Kayte tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in NYC and now have two children — daughter Faith and son Kelsey — together, with a third on the way. He is also a dad to actresses Spencer and Greer Grammer from previous relationships, and daughter Mason and son Jude from his marriage to Camille.
