Ironically enough, the pop stars first met through their now-ex-boyfriends Joe and Nick Jonas and have only grown closer over the years. The Beginning

Summer 2008: The ladies first met backstage at a Jonas Brothers concert when Taylor was 18 and Selena was 16. At the time, Taylor was romancing Joe, while Selena was dating his younger brother Nick.
September 2008: After their initial encounter, the two made their friendship red carpet official when Taylor showed Selena support at the premiere of her movie Another Cinderella Story.

November 2014: Following Selena and Lorde's public feud, the ladies buried the hatchet when they sat with their mutual bestie, Taylor, at the American Music Awards.
January 2015: A few months later, Lorde, Selena, and Taylor looked incredibly chummy as they hugged it out at HBO's Golden Globe Awards afterparty.

A Rough Patch

May 2015: While there was initially some speculation that Taylor's song "Bad Blood" was about Selena, the friends put that rumor to rest when Selena actually appeared in the music video.
August 2015: That Summer, Selena joined Taylor on stage again for her 1989 tour.
August 2015: Selena was one of Taylor's many squad members present at the MTV VMAs.
October 2015: In Flare magazine, Selena talked about her love for Taylor and how she admires the "beautiful way" she brings people together.

June 2017: Selena made fans even more confused about their friendship when she included a poster bearing a striking resemblance to Taylor in her "Bad Liar" video.
July 2017: The next month, Taylor broke her Instagram silence to gush about Selena's new track "Fetish."
September 2017: After wiping her pages clean and unfollowing everyone on social media, Taylor gave a clue that Selena was still in her "squad" when she included her name on her updated Junior Jewels shirt in her "Look What You Made Me Do" music video.
October 2017: During an interview with Beats Radio 1 host Zane Lowe, Selena gushed about Taylor's upcoming album, Reputation, calling it "so inspiring." "I obviously love her so much and I want her to do what she does and she's killing it and it's everything you would want and more," Selena added. "So, [I'm] very proud, and obviously [a] major fan."
