Though Emma's YouTube channel started out with a focus on DIY crafts, she quickly realized that art was not her thing — despite her genes. Her father, Michael, is an oil painter, and the subject of his work is "everyday objects and scenes."

Emma has said that his oil paintings — while beautiful — couldn't always support the family financially. "My dad is an artist, and he got sick for a little bit and couldn't paint, so there was hard times for our family," she told Forbes. "And he's doing great now. But having no money at certain points was weird."
