The two previously worked together on FX's Fosse/Verdon, which Thomas produced and directed. The engagement came less than a year after Michelle split from husband Phil Elverum in April 2019, though in March, it was reported that they secretly wed. Michelle is also a mom to daughter Matilda, whom she shared with the late Heath Ledger.
