Though Reinhart and Sprouse first met in 2016 while playing occasional lovers Betty and Jughead on "Riverdale," they didn't go public with their own romance until 2018. The two dated on and off for two years before finally splitting for good in 2020. Not long after their second and (maybe) final breakup, the former couple began filming season five of their CW series.
Back in July 2019 during an interview with W, Reinhart spoke about the grueling hours spent filming and said she couldn't imagine how "miserable" she'd be if she "hated" her fellow cast members. Later, after returning to Vancouver to resume "Riverdale" filming in September 2020, Reinhart told Nylon she felt "like a prisoner" being stuck in Canada, though she didn't explicitly say that feeling had anything to do with her ex.
Not long after, Sprouse posted an Instagram announcing their breakup, saying he wished Reinhart the "utmost love and happiness moving forward."
