Hailey Bieber, Blake Lively, Zendaya, and More Stars Who Skipped the 2023 Met Gala

Blake Lively was among the first stars to confirm she'd be skipping the Met Gala this year. Though her stunning looks in past years have made her a staple at the annual fashion event, on April 28, she told reporters at the Tiffany & Co. reopening in New York City that "you will not" see her at the gala. However, she added, "But I will be watching."

On May 1, the same day as the Met Gala, Lively posted a mirror selfie of her pumping breastmilk in a bathroom, doubling down on her absence.

Lively last attended the gala in 2022, where she wowed onlookers with her color-changing custom Atelier Versace gown. Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was her date, sporting a simple black velvet tuxedo.
