Prince Harry had 5-month-old Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on his mind when he gave an emotional speech at the WellChild Awards in London on Tuesday. The Duke of Sussex's speech for the UK-based charity — which provides care for seriously ill children and young people via health services and emotional support, and of which he is patron — addressed the success of the organization and called attention to the importance of providing care for children in need, as individuals and as a community.

"Speaking to all of you pulls at my heartstrings in a way I could never have understood until I had a child of my own."

"It has been over a decade since I first came to these awards, and every year, they never fail to surprise and inspire me," Harry said. "Now, I'm a father. Last year, when my wife and I attended, we knew we were expecting our first child. No one else did at the time, but we did."

"I remember squeezing Meghan's hand so tight during the awards, and both of us were thinking what it would be like to be parents one day, and more so what it would be like to do everything we could to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time," he continued. "Now, as parents, being here and speaking to all of you, pulls at my heartstrings in a way I could never have understood until I had a child of my own."

Harry went on to discuss the importance of WellChild and the fears he and Meghan had when Archie was still on his way. "We all must continue to amass resources, bring awareness, and open our hearts," he said. Watch the Duke of Sussex's full heartwarming speech above.
