Look Back at Alexander Skarsgård's Love Life, From Amanda Seyfried to Alexa Chung

Alexander Skarsgård has historically been extremely private about his dating life, but he's also had several high-profile relationships with other stars you'll definitely recognize, like Alexa Chung. At the premiere of "Succession" season four in March, though, he joined costar Sarah Snook — who unveiled her baby bump on the red carpet — in sharing some exciting baby-related news that evening. Though speculation had swirled for a while, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he finally confirmed that he and fellow actor Tuva Novotny had welcomed their first child.

Before that, the 46-year-old actor — who plays the nefarious mogul Lukas Matsson on "Succession"'s final season — has been mostly single or pretty private about his dating life. He has, however, been linked to a handful of his Hollywood costars and other notable celebs. While gossip often inaccurately linked him with A-listers like Margot Robbie and Katie Holmes, Skarsgård's actual relationship history is actually a lot quieter and less dramatic than that. Take a look at what we do know about his love life, along with a couple of rare quotes about his relationships.

Back in 2008, Seyfried and Skarsgård briefly dated, but it wasn't until 2011 that Seyfried confirmed the past relationship.

"We dated. He's super funny, but I was too involved with Dom ["Mamma Mia" costar Dominic Cooper]," she told Elle, as reported by Access Hollywood.

Back in 2009, rumors abounded that "True Blood" costars Wood and Skarsgård were romantically involved. Neither confirmed it at the time, but in 2010, Wood obliquely admitted to it in an interview with E! News.

"God, that ['True Blood'] set is just a lovefest over there," she revealed. "I've even been there myself. I did date one of the castmembers already." While not mentioning Skarsgård's name, it did certainly sound like a reference to the rumors from the previous year.

Bosworth and Skarsgård, who costarred in the movie "Straw Dogs," reportedly dated from 2009 to 2011 before breaking it off, according to People. Despite the breakup, they still apparently remained on good terms, both professionally and personally.

"Alex is so kind and so dedicated and so incredibly professional," Bosworth said during the "Straw Dogs" press tour. "He's got this rare, wonderful control and stillness that you notice in a lot of old movie stars. He looks you in the eye. I feel incredibly lucky to have had that type of man on this movie."

Skarsgård had similarly kind words to say about Bosworth. "Kate is such a great actress, and she's so much more than a good-looking Hollywood starlet. We were just really good friends at the time," he told BlackBook.

In 2018, the exes bumped into each other at the Met Gala and, according to Us Weekly, chatted briefly and even posed for pictures together.

Skarsgård and model Chung were linked from 2015 to 2017. During their romance, they were notoriously private, never speaking about their relationship and rarely being photographed together. By 2017, however, their busy lives simply caused them to grow apart.

"No one cheated on anyone," a source told E! News in July 2017. "It was a clean breakup that was caused by busy schedules and distance. They really did love each other and were pretty serious. They still have respect for each other."

Not many details are known about Skarsgård's relationship with 43-year-old Novotny. Both of them are Swedish actors, and Novotny starred alongside Natalie Portman in 2018's "Annihilation" and appeared in 2022's "Zero Contact," to name a few of her projects. Skarsgard and Novotny also worked together on the Danish miniseries "The Kingdom Exodus," which premiered in 2022.

Skarsgård confirmed he had welcomed a child with Novotny at the premiere of "Succession" season four on March 20, when a reporter from Entertainment Tonight congratulated him on welcoming his first child and he responded, "Thank you very much." He then showed off a stuffed toy a fan had gifted him earlier in the night. "I got this on the red carpet," he added.

Skarsgård and Novotny have mostly kept their romance under wraps, but they were spotted walking around New York City with a baby carriage in November 2022, per Page Six. Novotny also debuted her baby bump at a Swedish awards ceremony in April 2022, according to Us Weekly. Per the outlet, Novotny also has a 16-year-old daughter named Ella with her ex, Nicolai Bjerrum Lersbryggen.
