Here's What We'll Find Out in the American Horror Story Season 6 Premiere

After many agonizing months, the arrival of American Horror Story's sixth season is finally upon us. At this point, it feels like we have so much fodder for theorizing, but we really have nothing at all. We have tons of teasers and creepy posters, and yet all but one are misdirects. We have spare details about the theme and facts about the season, but they don't add up to much. So what can we really expect from the season six premiere?

This week, The Hollywood Reporter picked the brain of Stephanie Gibbons, the head of marketing at FX. And while the mystery is still intact, Gibbons teased quite a bit about the premiere, giving us an idea of what we're in for when the episode finally airs. We've pulled out the most intriguing quotes, primed specifically for your consumption.

• On how much promotional material is actually out there: "There are 24 teasers. Then there's the anthology spot that brings it all together, as well as the other anthology spot which we released with Lady Gaga's single, 'Perfect Illusion' . . . There are also 17 different print finishes, so the outdoor and the print campaign mirror. And then there are another eight teasers that are social-based only."
• On why season six has been such a mystery: "We were going into the sixth season and that number has a particular meaning in the horror realm . . . We did want to ignite discussion and I can tell you we have always had an incredibly robust social community with AHS because it's that kind of show, but this year, the fans did share and exchange and debate more and there was a lot more social activity."
• On what we'll get in the premiere: "After all the breadcrumbs, you are definitely going to get the sandwich. There's no bait and switch here. It was about celebrating the building and worshiping the anticipation . . . the initial mystery will definitely be solved."
• On whether you can actually find the theme in the teasers: "The truth is in there, we made absolutely certain. It's like the needle in the haystack or the pebble in your shoe: it's tiny but boy, do you notice it and that's what we wanted."
• On whether the premiere will reveal everything: "[Viewers] will certainly know a lot more, related to the marketing. They'll certainly understand. But I think one of the thrills of this season is that it's very different . . . than anything that's come before it."
• On the season as a whole: "It is one awesome, twisty-turny season and I'm not kidding. When I watched it, I was running around the halls saying, 'Oh my God, oh my God!'"
• On whether we'll get official images: "We did shoot gallery and right after the show premieres, we will release the imagery of all the characters."
