Carrie Underwood is back, y'all! After keeping a low profile for the past few months following an accident requiring wrist surgery and over 40 stitches in her face, the 35-year-old country singer is ready for a triumphant return. Before she performed at the ACM Awards on April 15, Underwood released a new single, "Cry Pretty." The song is a reflection on the past few months of her life, as well as the newest addition to our sad song playlist.

Just one day before releasing the song, Underwood shared a message on her personal website telling fans that she's doing well in her healing process and the meaning behind the song. "The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can't hold them back," she shared. "It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It's emotional. It's real. And it ROCKS!"

Underwood has also spent this time working on her upcoming album, which will be the first since 2015's Storyteller.
