Gilmore Girls' Tribute to Wild Left Author Cheryl Strayed "Gobsmacked and Honored"

We weren't the only fans excited about the premiere of Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. On Saturday, author Cheryl Strayed revealed that she was deeply moved by all the references the reboot made to her book Wild. "Gobsmacked & honored by the Wild homage in @gilmoregirls Year in the Life," she wrote, alongside a split-screen shot of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) reading the book by the pool with a Draper James tote (Reese Witherspoon's brand) and then another of her channeling Witherspoon's character from the 2014 film adaptation. "Like so many people, in Lorelai and Rory, I see pieces of myself, my mother, and my daughter. That scene when Lorelai wanders behind the closed store near the trail and looks out across the wild landscape then calls her mom? Took my breath away and made me cry (after laughing at so many others parts)." Wild, which was released in 2012, was based on Strayed's life as she hiked along the Pacific Crest Trail to cope with the loss of her mother. "Y'all touched so many of our hearts," she added. "#staywild."
