Summer TCA panels are in full swing, and we've been getting quite a few good spoilers and tidbits concerning Fall's new shows. Fox's Gotham is one of the most highly anticipated of the season, and producers appeared on stage with stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, and Jada Pinkett Smith to give us the scoop on the show. Stay tuned for more on the pilot, but in a nutshell, it revolves around young James Gordon (McKenzie) as he befriends a newly orphaned Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and fights the rising villains in the grimy city of Gotham.
The most interesting part of the panel has to be a comment from executive producer Bruno Heller. He mentioned that the first season of the show will revolve around the rise of the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), but the progression will depend "entirely on what pops with the audience." That's right — you like Edward Nygma; you demand that he turn into the Riddler by next season. Let's hope the show — which I got a sneak peek of and is actually really intriguing — lasts until Harvey Dent transforms into Two-Face. "You have to front-load the pilot with the best you've got," said Heller. "There will be more fun and more surprises." Can't wait!
The show premieres on Sept. 22, and you should check out the trailer now.
