Ranking The Bachelorette's Group Dates From Least to Most Traumatizing

This biggest story to come out of The Bachelorette this week is undoubtedly Kaitlyn and Nick's tryst, but we really need to talk about that group date. This season has taken the time-honored tradition of silly group dates way too far, and the latest date is just the nail in the coffin. (Pun intended.) The gentlemen who score the solo dates haven't been subjected to the same level of humiliation, but at this point, everyone has been traumatized. Here's how we break down the group dates, from least to most batsh*t.

08
Episode 3: Boxing With Laila Ali
ABC

Episode 3: Boxing With Laila Ali

This isn't so bad! The men got to meet the legendary Laila Ali, and they took some frustrations out on each other's faces. It was less successful for Jared, who went to the hospital after a tough hit from Ben Z.

07
Episode 6: Mariachi Serenades
ABC

Episode 6: Mariachi Serenades

There are worse things in the world than having to wear a mariachi costume and sing to the woman you want to marry (we'll get to them), but this date was particularly humiliating for the men because Nick had recently joined the show. They were forced to watch on as he swooped in on their lady with his sweet rhymes (ha!) and vocal skills.

06
Episode 5: Awkward Aladdin Auditions
ABC

Episode 5: Awkward Aladdin Auditions

So not only did the guys have to sing Disney style, but they also had to learn a dance routine for Kaitlyn. It would be one thing if they were alone, but they had to audition in front of the director and stars of the Broadway musical. That's just embarrassing.

05
Episode 5: Rap Battles With Doug E. Fresh
ABC

Episode 5: Rap Battles With Doug E. Fresh

Unless you're Shawn, who can just lift up his shirt and win a battle of literally any kind (see above), rap battles are really difficult! The men are not even good at insulting each other in their one-on-ones with the camera when producers are feeding them lines. Having to square off against one another in front of a live audience was just a trainwreck.

04
Episode 3: Stand-Up Comedy With Amy Schumer
ABC

Episode 3: Stand-Up Comedy With Amy Schumer

You know what's more anxiety-inducing than making a crowd cheer? Making them laugh. Having Amy Schumer (plus Nikki Glaser, Rachel Feinstein, and Bridget Everett) on the show was awesome, but making the guys do stand-up comedy was just embarrassing — especially when the ones who were apparently looking forward to it just crashed and burned. Sorry, Tony.

03
Episode 4: Sumo Wrestling
ABC

Episode 4: Sumo Wrestling

Boxing is one thing, but sumo wresting is a whole other ball game. The producers enlisted the talents of traditional sumo stars Yama and Byamba to sharpen the suitors' wrestling skills before the men had to fight each other in front of a live audience, and some dudes (Joe) couldn't even master the art of keeping their balls tucked in. How is this a date? The pressure was enough to get some of the men way too emotional. Again, sorry Tony.

02
Episode 4: Worst Sex Ed Class Ever
ABC

Episode 4: Worst Sex Ed Class Ever

Hey, remember that time these poor dudes had to teach sex education to a classroom full of kids they didn't know were actually child actors? This date was so horrendous that ABC doesn't even have official photos of it. THAT is how bad it was.

01
Episode 7: The Fake Wake
ABC

Episode 7: The Fake Wake

Not only was this a terrible idea from the get-go — I don't care if you're in Ireland, go to a pub instead — but who thought it would be OK to put Ben Z. on this date? The guy lost his mom as a teen! He already had to go to a real funeral for a loved one; why would Kaitlyn agree to let him go through with this date? He was a trooper, but this was an insane idea and an emotionally insensitive move.
