Are you ready for another look at Ryan Murphy's The Politician? Hopefully you're sitting down, because the new trailer for the upcoming dramedy, which arrives on Netflix in September, is a star-studded, campy, quotable ride.
If you haven't yet read up on the series, it will follow wealthy Santa Barbara-based student Payton Hobart (Dear Evan Hansen's Ben Platt), who has serious aspirations about becoming president one day. But before he can do that, he'll have to navigate the treacherous political landscape of Saint Sebastian High School in his quest to become student body president and later attend Harvard.
Judging from the first trailer, which was released in August, Payton will go toe to toe with some ruthless classmates (Bohemian Rhapsody's Lucy Boynton), who we imagine will put Rachel Berry to shame, as well as an assassination attempt from Jessica Lange's character. (NBD.) Luckily, he has the undying support of his mother (Gwyneth Paltrow) to guide him through it all. The second trailer, which dropped on Sunday, was filled with intensity and tension and gives us our first glimpse of Bette Midler in character (complete with mustard power suit and a tough, take-no-prisoners attitude).
