10 Emmy-Nominated Shows You Need to Finally Start Watching

Congratulations are in order for Lily Tomlin, who was nominated for lead actress in a comedy series. This show, about two friends whose husbands declare they're gay and in love with one another, is easy as pie to catch up on, since it's a Netflix Original.

OK, The Comedians was just nominated for original music and lyrics and Mel Brooks's guest spot, but it's still on the list! Josh Gad and Billy Crystal teamed up to play hosts of a comedy sketch show for this series on FX, which finished its 13-episode first (and only) season in June.

Why aren't you watching Black-ish? This show was one of the biggest standouts of the 2014-2015 TV season, due in no small part to lead actor in a comedy series nominee Anthony Anderson. Do yourself a favor and catch up before it comes back this Fall.

Netflix found a winner with the Tina Fey-produced Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and it's time for you to join the party and catch up. The show has seven nominations, including outstanding comedy series and nods for Jane Krakowski, Jon Hamm, and Tina Fey.

Amazon's programming is getting in on the Emmys love this year, as Transparent earned nominations for outstanding comedy series, lead actor (Jeffrey Tambor!), and more. Spring for Amazon Prime already and binge-watch the brilliant comedy.

If there was any doubt that this prequel to Breaking Bad deserved a spot on your DVR, let its outstanding drama series nomination abolish it. Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks have both been nominated for their performances as well, meaning it's time for you to hop aboard the Better Call Saul train.

Bloodline hasn't made as big of a splash as some of Netflix's other shows, namely House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, but it deserves some credit. Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn have both been nominated for their roles, and rightly so. This family drama takes a while to get moving, but you'll be glad you put the time in.

Empire didn't earn as many nominations as creator Lee Daniels would have liked, but we're just happy Taraji P. Henson earned her nod for playing the unforgettable Cookie. The characters are brilliant, the story is involving, and the music is fabulous. Stop avoiding this show and watch it already!
