5 Mind-Melting Twists to Remember From the Pretty Little Liars Finale

Bear with us: Charlotte DiLaurentis, of course, was born as Charles. And Charles was actually born in Radley Sanitarium and later adopted into the DiLaurentis family. His birth mother isn't Mrs. DiLaurentis at all. She's a woman named Mary Drake. Who's Mary Drake, you ask?

Altogether now: say whaaat?! We've been waiting years for a twin to pop up on Pretty Little Liars. It's such a huge part of the book series, and there's a ton of twin imagery throughout all six seasons. Did we ever suspect it would be Mrs. DiLaurentis, though? We definitely thought she might be "A" at one point, but we never saw her as a twin.

Not only is Mary Drake a twin, we also learn she's the biological mother of Charles, that she's working with Dr. Rollins, and that she's desperately trying to gain control over the Carissimi group. It also seems like she's trying to get revenge for Charlotte's death. Which kind of leaves us wondering, still, after all this time: who killed Charlotte?!

Yes, let's talk about Ali's morally corrupt husband, Dr. Rollins! First of all, he's British?! And trying to help Mary Drake gain control over the Carissimi group?! Second of all, Ali spends the whole episode thinking she's suffering hallucinations. Detective Wilden isn't a hallucination at all, though. It's Dr. Rollins himself, wearing a Wilden mask. Did he also infer that he was in love with Charlotte before she died? Consider our jaws on the floor.

As usual, the group thinks they've developed an airtight plan to pull a fast one on their attacker, and as usual, they're wrong. The plan to corner the show's newest villain at the Lost Woods Resort goes totally awry, and Hanna vanishes from the room.

In the final moments, the newest serial texter lets the group know that they have Hanna. Then for the first time ever, they sign the text "A.D." But who can it be? It can't be Alison DiLaurentis, seeing as she spends most of the episode going crazy and admitting herself into psychiatric treatment. It doesn't seem like it's Mary Drake or Dr. Rollins either, they're so focused on Alison DiLaurentis and the Carrissimi group and don't mention Hanna at all. So, then, who is it?! Who is "A.D"?
