5 Things to Remember Before You Watch the Girls Season Premiere

At the end of season two, Hannah's OCD gets the better of her, resulting in a Q-tip injury and an inability to get out of bed. Most worrisome is that she can't write anything, which is problematic, because she has an ebook due and has already been paid for it. The threat of a lawsuit is just one more of Hannah's problems.

When Hannah can't reach Jessa and doesn't want to talk to Marnie or Shoshanna about her problems, she calls ex-boyfriend Adam, who dramatically (and shirtlessly) runs across Brooklyn to save her. It's kind of romantic that he says, "I was always here," to a scared, relieved Hannah — except that he is still dating Natalia when they reunite. In fact, things are pretty good between Adam and Natalia when he goes running to Hannah — they had been working on getting their sex life back to normal in the wake of that traumatizing encounter they have in the episode before the finale.

After spending a season apart, Marnie realizes she wants Charlie back. In the finale, after an impassioned postbrunch "what are we?" conversation, they both admit they want to be together, and everything is wrapped up very sweetly. Don't get too attached to the idea of them as a couple, though, because the actor who plays Charlie (Christopher Abbott) left the show after season two, meaning that these two are not destined for happily ever after in season three.

Their romance had been a bright spot in season two, but by the end of the season, Shoshanna dumps Ray for being unrelentingly negative and hating everything ("I can't be the only thing you like!"). While we can't help but agree with Shosh, she had been cheating on Ray, too (though he never finds out). They both start season three single.
