8 Actors Who Need to Come Back to American Horror Story Already

After taking an Emmy-nominated turn in American Horror Story: Asylum as the serial-killer-turned-psychotherapist Dr. Oliver Thredson, Zachary Quinto has primarily kept to the big screen, starring as Spock in the reboot of Star Trek, among other meaty roles.

Ethereal redhead Frances Conroy has several memorable turns on American Horror Story, appearing as a ghostly maid in Murder House, a maudlin angel of death in Asylum, a fiery witch in Coven, and a deranged socialite in Freak Show. She skipped out on Hotel, but in the time since, she has starred as Dawn on the Hulu series Casual.

James Cromwell made a splash as the misogynistic Dr. Arthur Arden in American Horror Story: Asylum. Since then, he has had plenty of roles in TV, including Do No Harm, Murder in the First, and the upcoming The Young Pope.

Since playing tragic housewife Vivien Harmon on the first season of American Horror Story, Connie Britton has starred in a host of other projects, including her notable turn as country singer Rayna Jaymes in the CMT country musical Nashville and her buzz-worthy role as the notorious Faye Resnick in The People vs. O.J. After playing the beloved voodoo pincushion Queenie on Coven (with a cameo in Hotel) and the ill-fated Regina Ross in Freak Show, Gabourey Sidibe has since gone on to become a staple in Fox's musical juggernaut Empire, where she plays assistant extraordinaire Becky Williams. Though Queenie meets a grisly end in Hotel, there are plenty of ways Sidibe could return.

A former Nickelodeon star, Emma Roberts starred in two seasons of American Horror Story, playing the telekinetic witch Madison Montgomery in Coven and fake fortune teller Maggie Esmerelda in Freak Show. Roberts has since then moved to another Ryan Murphy production, Scream Queens, but there are rumors she might one day return to her AHS roots.
