The Pretty Cute Reason Karen's Voice Sounds So Familiar in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Warning: spoilers below!

One of the coolest aspects of Spider-Man: Homecoming (of which there are many) is the major spidey suit upgrade Peter Parker (Tom Holland) gets courtesy of his mentor, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Although we do get a glimpse of the stripped-down disguise the young web-slinger had been wearing before Tony helped him out (red and blue pajamas, basically), for the most part he spends the film swooping through Queens in a suit outfitted with its very own artificial intelligence system, similar to J.A.R.V.I.S. in Tony's Iron Man suit.

At first Peter dubs the A.I. "suit lady" before eventually deciding to call her Karen. She helps him navigate everything from web grenades to his complicated love life, and if her voice sounds familiar, there's a very good (and pretty cute) reason for it. Karen is voiced by none other than Jennifer Connelly, making Homecoming her second foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since her first was in 2003's Hulk as Betty Ross. That's not where her ties to the MCU end, though.

In real life, the American Pastoral actress is married to Paul Bettany, the British actor who voices J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man films and later becomes Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron (after which Tony starts using a system called F.R.I.D.A.Y.).

If you're already aware the actors are married IRL, it's a nice wink to the offscreen connection Tony and Peter's equipment now shares.
