Chloe Bailey, Olivia Colman, and Woody Harrelson to Star in Movie Adaptation of Bob Dylan Musical

Chloe Bailey, Woody Harrelson, and Olivia Colman are lending their talents to a new arena — Bob Dylan's songbook. According to Variety, the trio are starring in a movie adaptation of "Girl From the North Country," a Broadway musical featuring iconic Dylan songs like "All Along the Watchtower" and "Make You Feel My Love."

The screen adaptation will be produced by Blueprint Pictures, the production company behind "The Banshees of Inisherin," and will be written and directed by Conor McPherson, who also wrote the stage musical. Dylan himself has also given his blessing to McPherson and the show. "To be associated with Conor is one of the highlights of my professional life," he said in a statement, per Variety. "It goes without saying the man is a genius for putting this thing together and I'm thrilled to be a part of the experience. My songs couldn't be in better hands. The play had me crying at the end. I can't even say why. When the curtain came down, I was stunned. I really was."

It's shaping up to be a big year for all three stars of the film. Bailey is gearing up to release her debut album as a solo artist and is also slated to star in Donald Glover's new television project, "Swarm," which is a successor to "Atlanta." Harrelson's film "Triangle of Sadness" is nominated for three awards at this year's Oscars, including best picture. Meanwhile, Colman's movie "Empire of Light" is also Oscar nominated, and she's set to appear in Marvel and Disney+'s "Secret Invasion."

Reps for Blueprint did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment, and the project doesn't have a release date yet. Ahead, learn more about the onscreen adaptation of "Girl From the North Country."

"Girl From the North Country" Plot

"Girl From the North Country" weaves a slate of Dylan songs together to tell the story of several Midwesterners living around the time of the Great Depression. It takes place in a guesthouse in Duluth, MN, and it focuses on innkeeper Nick Laine, his wife, Elizabeth — who is in the early stages of dementia — and their secretive adopted daughter, Marianne, who develops a relationship with an escaped convict named Joe Scott. All the characters are at a crossroads in their lives, and their stories come to life with the help of Dylan songs including "Forever Young," "Hurricane," "Slow Train Coming," and "Like a Rolling Stone."

"Girl From the North Country" Cast

Harrelson will star as Nick, who runs the guesthouse at the heart of the story. Colman will play his wife, Elizabeth, while Bailey plays their adopted daughter, Marianne. "Doctor Who" star Tosin Cole will play Joe.
