What We Know About "Gen V" Season 2 Based on the Shocking Finale

What's left of Godolkin University will surely go haywire in "Gen V" season two. Amazon Prime Video green-lit the gory "The Boys" spinoff — which unravels a sinister plot brewing at a prestigious college training the next generation of Supes — for a second season on Oct. 19. The streamer announced in a press release, "Expanding the universe of 'The Boys' with a series as bold as 'Gen V' has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony. From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew 'Gen V' would push the boundaries . . . We're excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from 'Gen V' to our customers."

Fazekas and Kripke added in a press statement, "We couldn't be happier to make a second season of 'Gen V.' These are characters and stories we've grown to love, and we are thrilled to know people feel the same! The writers are already working on the new season—sophomore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you've come to expect from the show."

"Gen V" wrapped up its explosive debut season on Nov. 3 after eight mind-blowing episodes. From the start, viewers had no idea how wild the series would get. But the disturbing Supe experiment gone wrong that killed nearly half of Godolkin's student body in the finale is just the beginning of a truly insane journey. Never mind what it all means for "The Boys" season four, which will likely arrive before the next installment of "Gen V." Fans are still trying to process what's going to happen to the main crew — Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Jordan (London Thor/Derek Luh), Sam (Asa Germann), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) — now that battle lines have been drawn.

"Gen V" Season 2 Cast

It's safe to say Sinclair, Perdomo, Broadway, Phillips, Thor, Luh, and Germann will all reprise their roles in season two. It's also a strong possibility we'll get more cameos from the "Boys" cast — like Antony Starr's Homelander, Karl Urban's Billy Butcher, Colby Minifie's Ashley, and Claudia Doumit's Victoria Neuman, who all appeared toward the end of season one.

Patrick Schwarzenegger's "Gen V" character, Luke, committed suicide in the first episode, but he resurfaced in multiple scenarios throughout the season (nothing's too odd for the Boys Universe), so it's possible he could return for season two as well. Especially in the subconscious sense (like in season one), with his ex, Cate, and brother running amok at Godolkin.

Shelley Conn's character Dean Shetty was killed by Cate in the penultimate episode, so we likely won't see her in season two.

"Gen V" Season 2 Plot

Considering where the finale left off, "The Boys" season two could go a lot of ways. Since Cate and Sam were hailed the new Guardians of Godolkin, even after unleashing absolute hell on campus, we're sure to see Marie, Jordan, Andre, and Emma — who were named culprits in the college massacre — fight to clear their names — though first they'll have to escape their windowless and doorless room. There's also the fact that Vought's board of directors is still missing a new member of The Seven. And, of course, The Woods — where Shetty and Godolkin concocted the deadly disease experiment on "ill" Supes — still hasn't been exposed to the public. Clearly, there's a lot for "Gen V" season two to sort out, and we can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

"Gen V" Season 2 Release Date

No official season two release date has been set yet, but thanks to the Boys Universe timeline, we at least have an idea of when the show's events will take place. As Kripke teased to Entertainment Weekly before the finale, the end of season one served as a "handoff" to "The Boys" season four. He added, "Then whenever we break season 4 of 'The Boys,' there will be a handoff to the hopeful [now-confirmed] season 2 of 'Gen V.'"

This means we won't get season two until "The Boys" returns for its fourth season. Considering season three aired in the summer of 2022, "The Boys"'s next installment will likely premiere sometime in 2024, followed by "Gen V"'s next season possibly in 2025.
