Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's "Rain on Me" VMAs Performance Is the Perfect Pop Storm

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's weather forecast for the MTV VMAs predicted a good time, and that's what we got. On Sunday night, the duo took the stage to perform their hit "Rain on Me" live for the first time, making pop goodness pour down from the heavens. Gaga sported a black and purple two-piece, and Grande rocked a matching purple crop top and skirt as they crooned the chart-topping track from Gaga's Chromatica album, which dropped in May. The set marked Gaga's first VMAs staging since she sang "Applause" from her LP Artpop in 2013 and Grande's first VMAs act since 2018. During the show, Gaga also belted her jams "911" and "Stupid Love," making sure to include some epic wardrobe changes.

It was a big night for the artists as they received nine nominations each, earning them the most nods. The duo ended up taking home the awards for best collaboration, song of the year, and best cinematography for "Rain on Me." Gaga also snagged the award for artist of the year and was honored with the inaugural Tricon award while Grande earned the best music video from home trophy for her "Stuck With U" collaboration with Justin Bieber. Although the event was unlike any other VMAs ceremony, Gaga and Grande still slayed the award show game with their signature flair. Watch them perform "Rain on Me" in the clip above!
