We can always rely on Netflix to provide us with endless original rom-coms, but the streaming service doesn't get nearly enough credit for its terrifyingly awesome array of original horror flicks. From adaptations (including many derived from master of macabre Stephen King) to completely new ideas, some scary Netflix originals are just as terrifying (if not more so) than horror movie classics.
If you're looking for something new to watch, we've got some movies that are guaranteed to leave you with chills. Here are some of Netflix's most horrifying original movies, and don't be surprised if you have to sleep with the light on after watching these.

This horror is another Stephen King adaptation, telling the story of a farmer in Nebraska, a domestic dispute over inherited land with his wife, and a decision to commit murder — with the reluctant help of his 14-year-son, of course.

Adapted from Samanta Schweblin's short novel of the same name, Fever Dream revolves around a women who — while lying in a rural hospital bed — uncovers a shocking conspiracy.

Starring Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Aksel Hennie (The Martian), this Norwegian comedic horror film tells the story of a married couple who each think they can end the marriage by murdering the other. When they take a trip to a remote cabin to do the deed, they end up finding an even bigger threat awaits.

What do you do when you are moonlighting as a chauffeur and realize the women you just picked up aren't what they seem? That's the premise of this vampire thriller, which features a lot of familiar faces including Debby Ryan, Sydney Sweeney, Alexander Ludwig, Lucy Fry, Raúl Castillo, and Alfie Allen, among others.

In this new Netflix psychological horror film set in the world of webcam pornography, Madeline Brewer from The Handmaid's Tale stars as an erotic cam girl who finds her popular channel hijacked by a look-alike. What's even better: Cam is one of the few films about sex work written by a former sex worker, resulting in a story that doesn't glamorize, glorify, or romanticize the profession.

I Am Mother
Starring Hilary Swank and Rose Byrne, this sci-fi thriller tells the story of a teenage girl raised by a robot designed to repopulate the earth, but an unexpected encounter with a gravely wounded human woman forces the teen to question everything she was told by her robot Mother about the outside world.

If you're a fan of the original Polish slasher movie, Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight, then you obviously have to watch this continuation of the story. Centered on Adaś, a young and dissatisfied policeman in a small town, this movie is a coming-of-age-meets-slasher flick that tackles the topics of finding yourself and looking for love, albeit with a good bit of blood.

I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House
In this creepy flick, a retired horror writer suffering from dementia hires a live-in nurse to care for both her and her Braintree, MA, estate. However, what the writer fails to mention to her new caretaker is that Polly, the fictional protagonist of her most popular novel, The Lady in the Walls, is not actually be fictional, and that she may have been killed in the estate the writer now inhabits.
